Summary
Duotronic doesn’t collect any data. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no third-party code, and no servers. Your events and tasks stay in Apple’s Calendar and Reminders on your device. The way you sort your task lists syncs to your other devices through your own iCloud account, where we can’t see it. If you leave a tip, Apple takes the payment, and we never see your payment details.
What Duotronic collects
Nothing. Duotronic has no servers and doesn’t track you. The only thing it keeps in the cloud is how your task lists are sorted, in your own iCloud account (below). We, 1640 LLC, never receive your calendar, your tasks, your settings, your sorts, or anything about how you use the app.
Your calendar and reminders
With your permission, Duotronic reads and changes the events and reminders in the Calendar and Reminders already on your device, the same ones Apple’s apps show. It doesn’t save a copy of your events or tasks anywhere. If those calendars and lists sync with iCloud or another account, your device’s own Calendar and Reminders do the syncing, not Duotronic. You can turn off Duotronic’s access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security.
What stays on your device
- Your settings, such as which calendars and lists show, your time and date format, and sounds and haptics, are saved in the app’s own preferences, which its widgets can read.
- The app remembers which screen you used last.
Duotronic never uses your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photos.
Your task list sorts
You can sort each of your task lists by due date, date added, priority, or title, or put its tasks in your own order. So that your other devices show each list the same way, Duotronic keeps your sorts in your own iCloud account, in iCloud’s key-value storage for the app. For each list it keeps the sort you chose; coded identifiers for the list’s tasks, never their titles or details, which hold your own order and let your devices recognize the list; and the list’s name and account name. Apple stores and syncs this under Apple’s privacy policy, and we, 1640 LLC, can’t see it. If you aren’t signed in to iCloud, your sorts stay on your device. Duotronic never writes them to Reminders.
Plain-language events and tasks
When you type an event or a task such as “Lunch with Sam Friday at 12:30 at Cafe Roma” or “Call mom Friday at 5pm, remind me an hour before”, Duotronic reads it with Apple’s on-device model, part of Apple Intelligence, to find the date, time, place, alert, and other details. This happens entirely on your device: your words aren’t sent to Apple, to us, or to anyone else, and the app doesn’t keep them beyond the event or task you add. You can turn this off in the app with INTERPRET PLAIN LANGUAGE, under CONFIG > CALENDARS or CONFIG > TASK LISTS.
Maps and links
When you tap an event’s location, Duotronic asks whether to open it in Apple Maps or Google Maps. Your choice opens that map with the location’s text, so the location you tapped goes to Apple or to Google, which handle it under their own privacy policies:
- Apple Maps opens in the Maps app.
- Google Maps opens in the Google Maps app if you have it, or otherwise on Google’s website in your browser.
Nothing is sent unless you choose one. A location that is a web link (a meeting link, say), and the web link saved with an event or a task, open in your browser or the app that handles them. Duotronic itself doesn’t load any web pages.
Widgets, Live Activities, and notifications
Widgets show your events and tasks on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, and in StandBy, and tapping a task in a widget opens it in Duotronic. When you track an event, its title, location, and countdown appear on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island until it ends. If you turn on Duotronic’s notifications, it schedules them on your device for your upcoming events and tasks, and your device shows them. All of this happens on your device; Duotronic uses no server to update or send them.
Siri and Shortcuts
You can ask Siri to add a task, schedule an event, show today, or track your next event, and use the same actions in the Shortcuts app. When an action asks you to pick a calendar, list, or task, Duotronic gives their names to Siri and Shortcuts on your device. Apple handles your voice requests under Apple’s own privacy policy.
Tips
Duotronic is free. CONFIG > SUPPORT MY WORK offers three optional tips, which unlock nothing. When you open it, Apple’s App Store supplies the tips’ prices. If you leave a tip, Apple’s own payment sheet takes the payment, under Apple’s privacy policy, and we never receive your name, email address, or payment details. Duotronic keeps no record of your tips.
The same screen’s EMAIL ME button starts an email to us in your mail app, with Duotronic’s version and your iOS version filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
Apple’s analytics
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in Settings on your device, Apple may send us crash reports and anonymous usage statistics. Apple collects these, not Duotronic, under Apple’s privacy policy. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Duotronic is suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
Help
- Duotronic shows nothing until you allow access: tap CONTINUE when a calendar or task screen asks. If you said no before, tap OPEN SETTINGS and turn on full access for Calendars and Reminders.
- To add an event or a task in plain words, turn on Apple Intelligence in Settings on a device that supports it. Without it, tasks are added exactly as you type them, and you fill in an event’s details yourself.
- Tap TRACK on an event to start a countdown on your Lock Screen; CONFIG > LIVE ACTIVITY can start one for you before each event.
- No iPhone Duo? Everything works on any iPhone, iPad or Mac. On iPhone Duo, open it like a book to spread the console across both screens.
